How it's made

You upload a photo — ideally a clear, front-facing shot with decent lighting, though we work with a lot of imperfect inputs — and our system uses AI to composite your face into a pre-designed Roman-era scene built by our in-house illustrators. That composite goes to a human artist on our production team who checks face alignment, adjusts skin tone matching, sharpens detail around the eyes and jaw, and confirms the composition holds at print size. Here's the part most portrait companies don't tell you: we discard about 1 in 12 generations because something's off — the angle doesn't match, the lighting clashes, the likeness feels approximate rather than real. That rejection step is manual and it's non-negotiable for us. Once the file clears QA, it goes to print on 400gsm canvas using archival pigment inks, then hand-stretched on a kiln-dried pine frame. The whole process, start to print-ready, runs about 24-48 hours on normal volume days.

Canvas prints should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from humidity over time; the archival inks hold up well under normal indoor conditions but a bathroom wall is a bad idea, as our head of production Maya Chen will tell anyone who asks. All orders are covered by our 60-day satisfaction policy — if the likeness is off, the print is damaged, or you're just not happy with it, contact us and we'll reprint or refund.
