The scene

Shoes off, a record on a moving box, golden light through the bare windows. This First Dance in the New House portrait paints the two of you slow-dancing in your own empty living room among the boxes, painted from a photo of the room: its walls, its windows and its floor, the evening it became yours.

• Your own empty living room, painted from your photo
• The two of you painted in it, with your own faces
• The dog or cat too, with “Add pet”
• At most four photos, the room included
• Free preview before you pay anything

Who it’s for

Partners and parents on move-in day, friends at the housewarming, a sister or a best friend who bought a house on her own, a couple settling into the forever home they waited years for, and real-estate agents giving a closing gift that gets hung, not stored.

How it’s made

Upload a photo of the empty living room on its own, then the two of you and the dog or cat if you like: at most four photos in all (a photo of two people counts as two). A free preview appears in minutes, with no payment. If you order, an artist checks the portrait, and nothing is printed until you approve it.

What makes it different

A house portrait usually paints the house alone. This one paints the people who just got the keys with it, with their own faces: by the SOLD sign, at the open front door, on the floor of the empty living room, in the first snow. The house or the room comes from your own photo, so it is their house, not a stock one.
