You upload a photo, pick this theme, and our pipeline starts with an AI face-isolation pass that extracts and anchors every face in the composition. From there, the system generates the watercolor-style render — and here's the part most people don't know: we discard about 1 in 12 of those first-pass generations internally before it ever reaches a human artist, because the face likeness didn't lock or an expression read wrong. For memorial work especially, our head of production Maya Chen has a standing rule: if the subject looks startled or vacant, it goes back into the queue, full stop. Once a generation passes that internal check, one of our artists does a refinement pass — softening edges, adjusting color temperature to match the warmth of a watercolor style, checking that the composition actually reads as a portrait and not a snapshot with a filter on it.
