Who it's for (and who it isn't)

This portrait is bought most often by dog owners who have two pets and have been slightly haunted by the fact that neither one has ever had a proper portrait. The typical buyer is a woman between 35 and 55 — ordering for herself, or for a friend who posts dog content constantly and would genuinely cry at this. We also get a steady stream of orders as anniversary or Christmas gifts where the couple's two dogs are, let's be honest, the real stars of the household. If that's you, the Royal Couple portrait is also worth a look if you want both the humans and dogs represented — but the two-dog version is its own thing, and a lot of people prefer it for exactly that reason.

It also does surprisingly well as a sympathy gift or memorial piece. We've had orders where one of the dogs passed away and the buyer wanted something permanent that showed both dogs together. That use case wasn't something we anticipated in 2022, but it's real and it matters.

Who this isn't for: If your photos are genuinely poor — heavily backlit, blurry beyond recognition, or taken from 30 feet away — the likeness won't be good enough to justify the purchase. How it's made

You upload two photos of your dogs — ideally face-forward, decent lighting, not buried in shadow. Our production system uses a combination of AI face-mapping and manual artist refinement: the AI handles the initial composite, placing your dogs' faces onto the royal scene with corrected proportions and appropriate fur texture, and then a human artist reviews and refines the result — adjusting color grading, fixing any blending artifacts, and making sure the crowns actually sit correctly on the head shape. That last part sounds minor but it's where a lot of competitor products fall apart visually. We reject about 1 in 12 first-pass generations internally before a proof ever reaches the customer, because if the likeness is off by that much, it's not worth sending. Once approved, the image is printed on 400gsm museum-grade canvas with UV-resistant inks and hand-stretched over a solid pine frame. Our head of production, Maya Chen, has a firm rule: if she wouldn't hang it in her own house, it doesn't ship.

What makes this different

Generic pet portrait prints — the kind you find on mass-market sites — use breed-based illustrations or heavily stylized cartoons that could be anybody's Lab or anybody's Poodle. This isn't that. The face in this portrait is your dog's face, mapped with enough accuracy that people who know your dogs will recognize them immediately. That's the actual point. We also retire Royal theme backgrounds on a rolling basis — a specific background style that shipped in early 2024 is no longer in production — which means the portrait your dog ends up in won't be identical to one ordered 18 months later. It's not artificially limited, but it's also not a commodity. In 2025, our average canvas size ordered for two-dog royals was 16×20, which is notably bigger than our single-pet average. That tells you something about how seriously people take this one.

Canvas portraits ship in reinforced flat packaging — we switched to the heavier-wall boxes in March 2024 after a rough holiday season with corner damage complaints, and it made a noticeable difference. US orders typically arrive in 5–7 business days after production completes (production is usually 2–4 days). EU and UK orders run 7–14 business days. If something arrives damaged or the likeness is significantly off from what you approved, our 60-day satisfaction policy covers a free reprint or a full refund — no hoop-jumping required, just email us a photo of the issue. To keep the canvas looking good long-term, avoid hanging in direct sunlight and don't clean it with anything wet; a soft dry cloth is all it needs.
