Together longer than apart

  • You: halfway point Monday, October 13, 2025 (passed). 50.9% of your life together so far.
  • Your partner: halfway point Saturday, March 25, 2023 (passed). 53.4% of their life together so far.

You have both been together longer than apart since Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Order-by dates for a canvas gift appear when you count your own days, because they depend on today’s date and where the gift is going.

How the calculator counts your days

Pick the day you count from (the day you met, your first date, the day you became a couple or your wedding day) and the calculator counts the calendar days from that date to today. The start date is day zero, so a couple who got together yesterday has been together for one day. If you like to include the first day as well, add one.

Only calendar dates are compared, never clock times, so time zones and daylight-saving changes cannot shift the answer by a day. Months and years are counted on the same day of the month as your start date. When that day does not exist in a shorter month, the last day of that month counts instead, which is also how a February 29 start is marked in common years.

Worked example: a couple together since June 12, 1999, counting on October 1, 2026, has been together for 9,973 days. That is 1,424 weeks and 5 days, or 27 years, 3 months and 19 days, and their 10,000th day falls on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Milestones worth marking

Anniversaries come once a year, but day counts add more dates to celebrate: 100 days, 500 days and every 1,000 days after that. 1,000 days is about two years and eight months; 10,000 days is about 27 years and four months, which makes it a milestone for long marriages rather than new couples. Every 500 weeks (3,500 days) is marked too, and 7,000 days lands exactly on your 1,000th week.

The calculator lists your next five milestones in date order with the weekday, and flags the big ones: every 5,000 days, every 1,000 weeks and every fifth anniversary. For married couples, each anniversary links to the traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.

When you have been together longer than apart

Add one or both birth dates and the calculator finds each halfway point: the day your time together equals the time you lived before it. The formula is your start date plus the number of days between your birth date and that start date. From the next day on, you have spent more of your life together than apart.

Each partner has a halfway point of their own, because each of you lived a different number of days before you met. With both dates entered, you have both been together longer than apart from the day after the later halfway point. In the worked example, with birthdays on February 8, 1973 and August 30, 1975, the halfway points were October 13, 2025 and March 25, 2023, so the couple crossed the line together on October 14, 2025.

Choose “Married since” and the same formula gives the day you have been married for half your life. Birth dates are optional and never leave the page.

Planning a gift for the big day

Pick any upcoming milestone and a delivery destination to see the latest order date for a canvas portrait. It uses the same delivery estimate PortraitGift shows in its cart (the measured order-to-carrier production range plus the carrier-published regional transit range), counted back in business days from the milestone, and a weekend milestone aims for the Friday before.

It is an estimate, not a guarantee: public holidays, customs and artwork revisions are not included, so leave extra time when the date cannot move. For any other occasion, use the gift delivery date calculator, and to choose the words for the card, try the gift message generator.

How it works

  1. Choose Together since or Married since and enter the day you count from.
  2. Optionally add one or both birth dates to find the day you have been together longer than apart.
  3. Count your days and read your next milestones. Pick one to see when to order a canvas gift, and copy the list if you want to keep it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I work out how many days we have been together?

Count the calendar days from your start date to today. The calculator does it for you and also shows the total as weeks, months and years. The start date counts as day zero; add one if you want to include the first day.

What does “together longer than apart” mean?

It is the day after your halfway point, when your time together becomes longer than the time you lived before it. The halfway point is your start date plus the number of days between your birth date and that start date, so each partner has their own.

How long is 10,000 days together?

About 27 years and four months. The exact day depends on your start date and the leap days in between: for a couple together since June 12, 1999, the 10,000th day is October 28, 2026.

How are leap years and month ends handled?

Every calendar day is counted, including February 29. Monthly and yearly anniversaries fall on the same day of the month as your start date; when a month is shorter, its last day is used, so a February 29 anniversary is marked on February 28 in common years.

Can we count from the day we met instead of our wedding?

Yes. Choose Together since for the day you met, had your first date or became a couple, or Married since for your wedding day. The count is the same; the wording, the anniversary gift links and the halfway line follow your choice.

How is the order-by date for a gift worked out?

It uses PortraitGift’s current delivery estimate for your chosen destination: the measured order-to-carrier production range plus the carrier-published regional transit range. It counts back in Monday-to-Friday business days from the milestone and aims for the Friday before when the milestone falls on a weekend. It is an estimate, not a guarantee, and leaves out public holidays, customs and revisions.

Are our dates or birthdays saved or shared?

No. Dates and birthdays stay in this page’s memory while it is open. They are never uploaded, stored, put in the page address or sent to analytics, and the calculator is masked from session recordings. Analytics record only fixed categories, such as whether you counted from “together” or “married”, whether birth dates were added, which field needed correcting and which button or link was used, never a date, birthday or count.
