Our top-selling themes — the ones that moved the needle in 2024 and into 2025 — aren't always the flashiest. Who this collection suits

These best sellers land hardest with gift-givers who are stuck. Not creatively stuck — practically stuck. You know the person well, you just can't find anything that doesn't feel generic. The dad who's received enough grilling accessories. The couple who just moved in together and already has nice things. The friend who genuinely doesn't need more stuff. A themed portrait sidesteps all of that because it's personal without being sentimental in the wrong way.

We see a lot of orders from people buying for dads who redecorated their home offices sometime between 2020 and 2022 and never really filled a wall properly. A framed canvas portrait in Viking or Cowboy style fits that space — it's funny enough that it doesn't feel precious, but it's genuinely nice-looking. That combination is hard to find in a gift under $80.

Couples are the other big archetype here. Not just anniversary gifts — we see a lot of 'we've been together 10 years and I want something that isn't a card' energy in our orders. Honestly, 'best seller' is doing a lot of work on a page like this, so let's be specific about what sells best for whom — because the number one overall isn't always the right pick for your situation.

The Cowboy Wanted Poster is our single most-gifted product for men over 45. We don't fully know why it outperforms Viking in that demographic — our best guess is that it reads as a joke first and a portrait second, which lowers the 'this is too much' anxiety that some dads have about receiving personalized things. It's also the most shareable: when someone posts it on social, it gets engagement. If you're shopping for a dad, uncle, or grandfather who would be quietly pleased to see his face on a wanted poster, that's your pick.

For couples, the Royal Portrait is the consistent winner. It looks expensive on a wall — the warm tones, the regal framing — and it photographs well enough that people actually hang it instead of storing it. We've had customers email us six months after delivery just to say it's become the first thing guests comment on. That kind of long-tail satisfaction doesn't show up in a star rating but it shows up in our repeat order data.

Viking portraits are our second-highest volume theme overall, and they skew toward younger buyers — late 20s to early 40s — gifting to someone with a personality big enough for a horned helmet. They also do well as self-purchases, which is a slightly different use case than most of our catalog. If you're buying for someone who lifts weights, has an opinion about craft beer, or whose personality has ever been described as 'a lot,' Viking is a very safe bet.

Fantasy and Superhero themes tend to be the choice when the recipient has a specific fandom or hobby. Superhero in particular is strong for kids' birthdays and for adults who are unironically into comics — and that demographic is larger than people assume. Fantasy works well for anyone who's ever played tabletop RPGs, watched too much Game of Thrones, or just has a flair for the dramatic.

Christmas portraits are seasonal obviously, but they're worth mentioning here because they're our fastest-growing category year over year. We started taking Christmas orders in August 2024 and sold out our rush-delivery slots by early November. If that's your goal, early is not a joke — order in October.

Most of our core single-portrait themes start right at or just under $50 for the base size. Cowboy Wanted Poster and Viking Portrait are both in this range at the standard 16×20" canvas. If you're buying a birthday gift for someone you're not sure will hang it prominently, starting at the smaller size keeps the risk low — and honestly, they almost always find a spot for it.

$50–$100

This is the sweet spot for most orders. A Royal Portrait or Fantasy Portrait at the 18×24" or 20×30" size lands in this range and feels like a proper gift rather than a novelty. Couple portraits also typically sit here. This tier covers probably 65% of what we ship — it's where 'thoughtful without being over the top' lives.

$100+

Larger canvases — the 24×36" size that people actually build a wall around — push into this tier. Also, multi-person portrait orders (three or more faces in one composition) are priced here. These are the orders that people frame and hang in a living room for years, not a bedroom shelf. If you're buying a housewarming gift for someone who just moved into a real house and has real walls, this is the tier where the gift actually lands the way you want it to.

Shipping Cutoffs by Occasion

Father's Day 2026 (June 21, 2026): US standard — order by June 13. US rush — order by June 17. International (EU/UK) — order by June 7. We held back on promising June 8 internationally last year and still had a handful of late arrivals in Germany; June 7 is the safer call.

Christmas 2025 (December 25): US standard — order by December 15. US rush — order by December 19. EU/UK — order by December 8. Australia/NZ — order by December 1. Christmas is our highest-volume season and rush slots fill fast — in 2024, rush capacity sold out on December 14.

Mother's Day 2026 (May 10, 2026): US standard — order by May 3. Rush — order by May 7. International — order by April 26.

Birthdays / No Fixed Deadline: US standard is 5-7 business days from order confirmation. International is typically 7-14 days. If you're cutting it close, contact us — we've accommodated a surprising number of 'I forgot it was today' situations.

All estimates assume photo submission within 24 hours of ordering. Delays in photo upload push production accordingly.

The themes that end up in our best sellers aren't always the most visually impressive in isolation — they're the ones that work as gifts. That means they're funny enough to give without awkwardness but nice enough to actually hang. Cowboy Wanted Poster has been in our top three for three consecutive years because it nails both sides of that. Viking is close behind for the same reason.

I've personally handled probably 400 revision requests across the best-seller themes, and the vast majority come down to one thing: the source photo.
